Last week, VITURE One was named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2022 (and the only one named in the consumer AR & VR category, a great honor!).

Each year, TIME solicits nominations from its editors and correspondents around the world and analyzes new devices, systems, and products from innovators across industries (with a particular interest in growing fields like XR). Contenders are evaluated and winners are chosen based on four key factors: originality, efficacy, ambition, and impact.

According to TIME, “The result is a list of 200 groundbreaking inventions (and 50 special mention inventions) — that are changing how we live, work, play, and think about what’s possible.”

VITURE One is among that prestigious list of 200. But what stood out that made TIME take notice of our efforts? In short: patented inventions, designs, and functions that set VITURE One apart from the devices that came before it.

The XR Glasses‍

The days of clunky headsets or craning your neck to play games or watch videos on handhelds are over. From their signature aesthetic to their folding hinges, the VITURE One XR Glasses feature a combined total of 10+ patented inventions and innovations that won them recognition as one of the most exciting new developments in the AR & VR category.

Of these, the most important to note is VITURE One’s tint-changing electrochromic films, a VITURE invention that makes our XR Glasses the first device of their kind. These films make several of VITURE One XR Glasses’ other patents and functions possible, including our signature Ambient & Immersive viewing modes and picture-in-picture display.

Other patented features responsible for VITURE One’s immersive experience include:

• The magnetic connector that links the XR Glasses to other devices is the first of its kind in this category, designed to be easily connected or disconnected with one hand. 
• Accessibility features such as the interchangeable nose plugs designed for a diverse range of face shapes, and the myopia dials above each lens that make VITURE One XR Glasses easily adjustable for near-sighted users with prescriptions up to -5.0D.
• The XR Glasses’ lightweight build (weighing in at only 72g) and advanced heat-release technology, two patented feats of engineering that make VITURE One comfortable to wear for hours on end.
• A virtual near-ear surround sound system powered by HARMAN AudioEFX that provides an amazing immersive audio experience without the need for other sound devices (though you can still earbuds or headphones if you choose!).
• Head-tilt navigation, a completely hands-free way to navigate the interface of our Neckband (and other devices).

The Neckband

VITURE One’s innovative Neckband is the perfect pairing for the XR Glasses, giving access to all your favorite streaming services and game platforms in a sleek and easy-to-use interface while keeping your phone or other devices free for other tasks.

Including its patented appearance, the Neckband boasts numerous new inventions of its own, including:

• Its Cloud-based processing unit, optimized for fast and stable connections to server-side services (which is also partially responsible for the XR Glasses’ lightweight build, as all computing components are entirely in the Neckband).
• The Neckband’s wireless connectivity, allowing it to connect to Wi-Fi and up to X Bluetooth devices at the same time.
• Its ergonomic build; made of silicone and memory metal, the Neckband sits so comfortably on your neck that you’ll forget its there, making for a comfier experience no matter when, where, or how long you use it.

The Mobile Dock

Finally, though it may seem to be a deceptively simple device, VITURE holds another few patents for VITURE One’s Mobile Dock, such as for its sleek casing (designed to attach to the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck) and for its function, which brings full HDMI-compatibility to the VITURE One ecosystem and provides 6 to 8 hours of additional battery life to devices thanks to its massive 13,000 mAH power bank.

Together with the XR Glasses and Neckband, the Mobile Dock fully rounds out the VITURE One ecosystem.
